  • You can wander from an Andalusian-style square to a Romanesque monastery, watch artisans working in glass, leather and ceramics, and stop for tapas without ever leaving the site.
  • It was built for Barcelona's 1929 International Exhibition and was originally intended to be temporary. Instead, it became one of the city's most popular attractions and remains a great place to experience Spanish architecture, culture and craftsmanship in one location.

About Poble Espanyol

Poble Espanyol was created for the 1929 Barcelona International Exhibition to show Spanish architecture and culture.

Before construction began, the project's creators travelled throughout Spain, visiting more than 1,500 towns and villages to study local building styles and traditions. The result was a unique open-air museum that brings together architectural influences from many different regions of the country.

The site covers almost 49,000 square metres and combines architecture, art, artisan workshops, live events and family-friendly attractions. Visitors can watch craftspeople working with glass, leather, ceramics and jewellery, while some workshops also offer hands-on experiences.

The Fran Daurel Museum, located within Poble Espanyol, houses an impressive collection of contemporary Spanish art, including works by internationally recognised artists.

Throughout the year, Poble Espanyol also hosts concerts, festivals and seasonal events, giving visitors another reason to return.

You'll also find a variety of restaurants, cafés and tapas bars throughout the village, making it easy to stop for a meal while exploring.
