About Barcelona Aquarium

Barcelona Aquarium is home to aquatic habitats from the Mediterranean and through to the warmer tropical waters of the Caribbean. It is spread across 21 different aquariums with around 11,000 animals from more than 400 different species.

The habitats are divided to reflect natural environments such as the Mediterranean Sea, tropical oceans, and deeper open waters. It has 12 Mediterranean aquariums, 7 tropical ones and a number of interactive exhibits designed to be fun but educational.

The aquarium has an 80-metre-long underwater tunnel in the oceanarium section, allowing you to walk through the tank and see sharks, eels, fish and rays swimming overhead and to your sides.

The aquarium also has a colony of Humboldt penguins, which are often fed around 11:30 and 16:30, which is a great experience to see if you time your visit right.
