Barcelona Aquarium (L'Aquarium de Barcelona) is the world's largest Mediterranean-themed aquarium.
The aquarium is in Port Vell, which is the historic harbour area on the waterfront. It is home to more than 11,000 marine animals from over 400 species, including sharks, rays, penguins, jellyfish and tropical fish.
The aquarium has an 80-metre-long underwater tunnel, where you can walk through the tank and see sharks and other sea creatures swimming overhead.
Alongside Mediterranean habitats, you'll also find tropical ecosystems, interactive exhibits and dedicated children's areas, making it one of the best attractions in Barcelona for families.

About Barcelona Aquarium

Barcelona Aquarium is home to aquatic habitats from the Mediterranean and through to the warmer tropical waters of the Caribbean. It is spread across 21 different aquariums with around 11,000 animals from more than 400 different species.

The habitats are divided to reflect natural environments such as the Mediterranean Sea, tropical oceans, and deeper open waters. It has 12 Mediterranean aquariums, 7 tropical ones and a number of interactive exhibits designed to be fun but educational.

The aquarium has an 80-metre-long underwater tunnel in the oceanarium section, allowing you to walk through the tank and see sharks, eels, fish and rays swimming overhead and to your sides.

The aquarium also has a colony of Humboldt penguins, which are often fed around 11:30 and 16:30, which is a great experience to see if you time your visit right.

‍By Car: Ronda Litoral, exits 21 and 22 (Parking is available at Parking Indigo C. C Maremagnum. A special price of €14 for 12 hours but its important you ask for it on arrival and not on departure.
