Sagrada Familia Tickets

The yet unfinished Sagrada Familia is Spain's most famous landmark. The church is Antoni Gaudí's crowning glory and forms part of his UNESCO World Heritage listing.

Construction began in 1882 and it was due to be completed in 2026, but the COVID-19 pandemic and slower funding delayed the completion and has turned it into one of the longest-running architectural projects in the world.

Visitors admire its beauty both from the outside and inside. They sit inside and watch as the stained glass windows create shapes and shadowns that change as the sun moves across the sky.

Opt for Tower access if you would like to enjoy views of the city from above the rooftops and other landmarks in the city.

Park Güell Tickets

Antoni Gaudí's Park Güell is another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fairy-tale like park is split into two sections, the forest area, which is free to enter and the Monumental Zone, which requires a ticket.

The Monumental Zone covers around 12 hectares and has lots of paths to explore as well as the famous Dragon Staircase, El Drac and the Hypostyle Room. It also offers views of Barcelona.

The land was originally meant to be an exclusive housing estate for Barcelona's wealthy and elite. However, due to spiralling costs, only two properties were completed. One of the properties, Antoni Gaudí lived in until his death and it is now the Gaudi House Museum which you can include access to in tickets.

The land was eventually given to the city of Barcelona and Gaudí created Park Güell instead, which has become one of the city's most popular attractions.

Casa Batlló Tickets

Casa Batlló is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Barcelona. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is another Antoni Gaudí design, and one of the city's most popular attractions.

Located on Passeig de Gràcia, which is one of Barcelona's most prestigious streets, Casa Batlló's facade is bright and colourful and the theme continues inside with large windows to flood the property with natural light. It is also known for its roof terrace.

The house has several nicknames including 'house of bones', 'house of masks' and 'house of the dragon', due to some of its architectural features. Gaudí wanted his designs to be bright and colourful but also functional. He rarely used straight lines as he said you don't find straight lines in nature.

Casa Milà - La Pedrera Tickets

Casa Milà - La Pedrera is another of Barcelona's most popular attractions, UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Gaudí design. Its nickname of 'La Pedrera' is due to it looking like a rock quarry from the front, and La Pedrera tanslates to that.

Casa Milà is also on Passeig de Gràcia and was built between 1906 & 1912. When building it, Gaudí refused to follow the council building guidelines and it ended up being bigger than what was allowed, in essence meaning it was an illegal structure. However, upon completion, the council deemed the property as 'a monument in nature' and that meant it did not need to abide by the bylaws and was allowed to remain.

Palau Güell (Güell Palace) Tickets

Palau Güell or 'Güell Palace' is another popular attraction in the heart of 'Las Ramblas'. It was commissioned by Eusebi Güell (of Park Güell) as his family residence and again designed by Antoni Gaudí. It has a grand facade with ornate ironwork.

Inside, you can see its parabolic dome, the play of light between dark and light textures, and enjoy the views from its rooftop terrace, along with the famous chimney stacks. The UNESCO World Heritage Site may not be as famous as some of Gaudí's other designs but it doesn't disappoint.

A Hop-on Hop-off bus tour of Barcelona is one of the best ways to see the city and some of its landmarks. With two main routes (Blue and Red) that run on a loop, its a great way to sit back and relax and enjoy a tour. Or, hop-on and off as you please to explore.

The routes start at Plaça de Catalunya and they go past major landmarks including Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, the Gothic Quarter, Barceloneta Beach, Barcelona Zoo, Port Vell, the Picasso Museum and many more. Most of the buses also have Wi-Fi available.

The first bus is at 09:00AM and they run until 19:00 each day.

La Rambla Boulevard - Free to explore.

La Rambla or Las Ramblas is a lively street in the heart of the city. It starts near Port Vell and stretches around 1.2 km to Plaça de Catalunya. There is plenty to see and do there.

You will find street performers, such as living statues, musicians and painters. La Boqueria is Barcelona's famous food market where you can stop for a bite to eat or just wander around and look at the stalls and soak up the atmosphere. You can see historic buildings such as Palau Güell which is only a short walk away. The street has stalls selling flowers, souvenirs, and other things.

The Columbus Monument Lookout is on Las Ramblas if you want to enjoy views from the top platform and the street also has lots of little cafés and restaurants. There are also lots of squares and roads running off Las Ramblas such as Plaça Reial to explore.

Las Ramblas can get very busy during the summer months, espcially in the afternoons. If you would like to enjoy a quieter experience, a morning visit before 10:00 AM may be best.

Montjuïc Hill - Free to walk around.

Montjuïc Hill is Barcelona's tallest point and it offers great views of the city. You can access it via the Montjuïc Cable Car or walk up it. It has various attractions and things to see and do, some being free and some requiring tickets. It has museums, Montjuïc Castle, gardens, the Olympic facilities and the Magin Fountain water show.

The hill also has paths to hike or cycle and along the way you can see sculptures, gardens, and relax at picnic areas.

Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya Tickets

The museum's Romanesque Art collection is one of the best in the world with works by Gaudí, Casas, Titian (Tiziano), and Velázquez. The museum also has the biggest and oldest mural and panel paintings in Europe, as well as metalwork and sculptures in wood and stone.

Poble Espanyol is an open-air museum covering 49,000 m². It was created for the 1929 Barcelona Universal Exposition. The designers visited more than 1,500 towns and villages across Spain so they could show the different cultures and traditions from across the whole of thecountry in one location.

Set up as live and active working villages, it has stalls with artisans selling products they've created and workshops showing visitors how the products are made, including glass, leather, ceramics, jewellery and more.

The museum is full of cafes and town squares all representing the different areas of Spain and show how the squares are the centre and life happening around them. The Fran Daurel Museum is also at Poble Espanyol, which is home to one of the best contemporary art collections in Barcelona.

The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc is at the bottom of the hill. It has seasonal shows that feature choreographed displays of dancing water with music and coloured lights. The shows are very popular in the evenings.

Montserrat Mountain Range is around 50 kilometres outside Barcelona. You can sometimes see its jagged looking peaks as you approach the city. The mountain range is home to the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, a basilica, a museum and a natural park, and day trips are available from Barcelona.

The basilica is home to the 'Black Madonna', sometimes called 'The Virgin of Montserrat' or 'La Moreneta'. The famous wooden sculpture depicts the Virgin Mary and attracts pilgrims from all over. The statue is behind a glass panel to protect it but one hand is accessible and it is common for visitors to touch or kiss the hand.

The Montserrat Museum is also worth visiting and has works by artists such as Caravaggio, Picasso and Dalí, showing pieces from the 13th century to the 20th century.

The monastery is also known for its 'Escolania de Montserrat', which is one of Europe's oldest boys' choirs and one of the most prestigious musical institutions in Spain.

The choir has been connected the abbey for centuries with records dating back to at the 14th century. It is made up of boys aged between 9 and 14 who live and study at the monastery, while receiving specialist musical training. It is knwon internationally for its performances and you can often hear them singing traditional hymns including the famous Virolai, which is dedicated to the Virgin of Montserrat.
